Nadando Contra la Corriente con Justicia Migrante: Episodio 12 - Feliz Año Nuevo 01/04/2018

Empezamos el año con temperaturas menos zero y la lucha por los derechos humanos sigue...

Tenemos informacion y algunos consejos para estas temperaturas. Seguimos en la lucha por mantener la politica No Mas Polimigra (FIPP); porque la el comite encargado de actualizar la ley, voto para cambios importantes donde la policia puede colaborar con agentes de Migracion; Cuales son esos cambios? Que es lo mas importante saber?. Tambien Hablaremos del arresto de un compañero que trabajaba en un rancho al norte del estado, fue detenido empezando el año.

We started the year with temperatures less zero and the fight for human rights continues... 

We have information and some tips for these temperatures. We continue in the struggle to maintain the policy No More Polimigra (Fair and Impartial Policing Policy); because the committee in charge of updating the law, vote for important changes where the police can collaborate with immigration agents; What are these changes? What is the most important thing to know? We will also talk about the arrest of a colleague who worked on a ranch in the north of the state, was arrested at the beginning of the year.

A Visit With: Off the Wall Visits the Burlington Mayor's Office 01/02/2018

Community Producer Margaret Harrington heads to Burlington's City Hall with Albert Petrarca, of Off the Wall Coalition, to find out how the Mayor will respond to the Church Street mural accusations of racism and white supremacy. Off the Wall Coalition presents Mayor Miro Weinberger's Chief of Staff, Brian Lowe, with the demand that the mayor withdraws his consent to being in the existing Marketplace Mural.

Enrique y Zully sobre el grand triunfo de Leche con Dignidad. Hablan de como los trabajadores se organizaron para lograr esta victoria con la grand compañía de helados Ben & Jerry's y qué significa para la comunidad. También invitan a la comunidad a la fiesta anual de Justicia Migrante el 18 de noviembre.

Enrique and Zully talk about the Milk with Dignity campaign victory. They will talk about how workers organized to sign the agreement with ice cream giant Ben & Jerry's and what this means for the community. They also invite the community out to Migrant Justice's annual party on November 18th.

Enrique Balcazar, Zully Palacios, and Martha Herrera speak about the upcoming "Human Rights Cannot Wait" tour along the east coast to promote the "Milk with Dignity" campaign and build pressure on Ben & Jerry's to make good on their commitment to the human rights of dairy workers. The episode also includes updates on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and driver's licenses in Vermont.

Esau y Yesenia acaban de ser liberedos bajo fianza despues de ser arrestados por la patrulla fronteriza el mismo dia que marcharon las 13 millas con Justicia Migrante y hoy nos cuentan su experiencia. Fellow Migrant Justice member Esau and Yesenia were just released on bail after being arrested by the border patrol on the same day that they marched 13 miles with Migrant Justice and today tell us their experience. Enrique Balcazar, organizador comunitario de Justicia Migrante, presentará videos de la Marcha para la Dignidad, una manifestación que se ocurrió el Primero de Mayo en Burlington. Los videos muestran trabajadores de ranchos lecheros demandando que Ben & Jerry's cumpla con su promesa de implementar el programa Leche con Dignidad en su cadena de abastecimiento y denunciando los ataques del Presidente Trump.
 
Enrique Balcazar, community organizer at Migrant Justice, will show videos from Mayday's March for Dignity, which took place in Burlington, VT. Videos show dairy workers demanding that Ben & Jerry's follow through on their commitment to join the Milk with Dignity program, followed by a protest at the U.S. Federal Building denouncing President Trump's attacks on immigrant workers.
