250th Anniversary of First Freedom of Information Law

December 2, 2016 marked the 250th anniversary of the world's first freedom of press and access to information law.  A quarter of a millennium ago, Sweden's Parliament passed the law that abolished state censorship and gave people the right to access unpublished information.

Creatives, citizens, nonprofits, activists and local municipalities all avail themselves of community access services. The support of Burlington Telecom for the work of local community access centers shows a continued support for the citizens and residents of Burlington.

The Vermont Press Association is sponsoring "Debate Sunday" to allow voters a chance to hear the candidates for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general on Sunday Oct. 23, at St. Michael's College. All candidates for the three statewide offices are invited to the event, which is being held in conjunction with the St. Michael's College Media Studies, Journalism and Digital Arts Department.

Town Meeting TV is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Spring 2025 cohort of the Neighborhood Community Media Internship program. Join up to 8 other youth to engage in interesting media making projects! This paid media internship opportunity is designed for youth aged 16-20 who are eager to gain professional experience in the audio-visual field and develop a deeper understanding of their local community. The group will meet under the leadership of Town Meeting TV's Travis Washington from the end of January 2025 to the beginning of June 2025, on a schedule agreed upon by the whole cohort.
