Branch Out Burlington presents author, educator and environmentalist Bill McKibben as this year’s winter seminar speaker. His topic will be "Local and Global: Building a Movement to Fight for a Livable Planet." McKibben writes and speaks frequently on global warming and alternative energy, and advocates for more localized economies in the effort to reverse climate change. Bill is a scholar in residence at Middlebury College and also a co-founder of 350.org, an international movement dedicated to solving the climate crisis. Branch Out Burlington! (a.k.a. “BOB”) is a local volunteer tree stewardship group, with a commitment to promote the expansion and preservation of our local urban forest, consisting of our greenbelts, parks, yards and all other greenspaces. Our projects include the Burlington Citywide Tree Planting, the Burlington Community Tree Nursery and planting project, our annual Tree Sale, Tree Walk and Awesome Tree Contest, and our ongoing TreeKeeper program.
