WWYW is a multimedia program focusing on issues of accountability, that is produced by the Government Accountability Project, the nation’s leading whistleblower protection and advocacy organization. GAP’s latest episode of Whistle Where You Work focuses on the status of whistleblowing in the Czech Republic. GAP has been working with Czech nonprofits and the American Embassy to raise awareness of whistleblower and general accountability practices in that country. In late January, GAP co-sponsored a conference in Prague aimed at bringing together whistleblowers, representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and journalists to explain how the GAP model of whistleblower protection works, and how disclosures typically unfold in the United States. The conference was a tremendous success, and GAP was invited back in March to speak at another event focusing on ‘new media’ techniques that NGOs can utilize to effectively spread messages and enact social change. The first segment analyzes GAP's findings about Czech whistleblowers.

Senator Patrick Leahy and his wife Marcelle enjoy a healthy school lunch made from Vermont products, receive a report on the success of Vermont’s Farm to School Program, and take part in a Youth Farm Spring Kick-Off during a visit to Burlington’s Hunt Middle School. The progress report highlights work funded through a $476,000 Centers for Disease Control grant to Vermont FEED, in order to understand the impact of Farm to School programming on student food choice. Leahy has championed the farm to school movement in Vermont and across the nation as the most senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.

The new health reform law gives a tax credit to certain small employers that provide health care coverage to their employees, effective with tax years beginning in 2010. An enhanced version of the credit will be effective beginning in 2014. The new law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was passed by Congress and was signed by President Obama on March 23, 2010.

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 4 & 7 meet the third Tuesday of the month. Meeting place: Robert E. Miller Community Center 130 Gosse Court.
