Bob Hoar, historian and docent at the Bennington Battlefield State Historic Park, will speak about the storehouses that were the target of the British forces at the Battle of Bennington.

F-35 Arrival Ceremony 10/19/2019

On Saturday, October 19, 2019, members of the Vermont Air National Guard were joined by Brig. Gen. Greg Knight, adjutant general, Vermont National Guard, Governor Phil Scott and other distinguished leaders and guests for a formal ceremony commemorating the arrival of the F-35 Lightning II aircraft to Vermont onto the 158th Fighter Wing.

The 158th Fighter Wing is the first Air National Guard unit to receive the U.S. Air Force's fifth-generation fighter, the F-35 Lightning II. The Vermont Air National Guard, federally recognized in August of 1946 with the 134th Fighter Squadron, remains a premier fighter wing ready to serve the citizens of the state of Vermont and nation when called upon. The F-35 Lightning II marks the ninth mission aircraft the Green Mountain Boys will receive, maintain and fly. This arrival is a significant milestone in the Green Mountain Boys' history and in the future of our Air National Guard and Air Force missions for decades to come.

Members of the Vermont Iraqi community gather on Burlington, Vermont's Church Street in front of City Hall to protest the Iraqi treatment of civilians and to ask the Burlington City Council for their support in protest.

Nuclear Free Future: Environmental Justice and Nuclear Waste 10/01/2019

Organized by the Citizens Awareness Network and the Vermont Yankee Decommissioning Alliance, activists are raising awareness of nuclear waste from Vermont Yankee being transported to West Texas and New Mexico.

Leona Morgan, Nuclear Issues Study Group (NISG), is from the Navajo Nation and a community impacted by uranium mining and the nuclear fuel cycle.

Diane D’Arrigo, Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS), addresses the vulnerabilities of centralized interim storage of HLNW and federal policy.

Deb Katz, Citizens Awareness Network (CAN), addresses the issues of NorthStar, decommissioning, and hardened on site storage at nuclear sites.

Protests, Arrests, & Locked Doors - Opponents of the F-35 Visit Senator Leahy's Office 09/13/2019

Over the course of 5 days, opponents of the F-35s, now based at the Burlington Airpot Air National Guard location, visited the office of Senator Leahy to explain their opposition and request community meetings on the issue.
