Senator Bernie Sanders: First Responders Roundtable 01/29/2024

Sen. Bernie Sanders holds a roundtable discussion with Vermont first responders on Monday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. to hear about challenges they face and what the federal government can do to support them.

The discussion with firefighters and EMS providers covers a range of issues, including recruitment, wages, training, and equipment costs. Sanders and attendees provide updates on several Congressionally Directed Spending projects for which Sanders secured more than $1.5 million in federal funding. The funding is being used to quadruple the number of spots at the Vermont State Firefighters Association cadet academy, establish more affordable EMS training, and build a new ambulance station in Waterbury.

Town Meeting Day Election Forums: Town Meeting Day 2024 - Promo 01/24/2024

Town Meeting TV is your election connection for Town Meeting Day 2024.

Tuesday, March 5th is Town Meeting Day. You will have the opportunity to vote on your city or town’s candidates and issues, as well as Vermont’s presidential primary.

Before you vote: learn about what’s on your ballot directly from your community’s decision makers by watching our candidate forums- as well as forums on municipal budgets, school budgets, and other questions you'll see on your ballot.

Polls are open from 7am to 7pm, or you can vote early at your Town Clerk’s office or by mail.

Remember: In Vermont, you can register to vote on election day at your polling location!

After all the ballots have been cast, be sure to tune into Town Meeting TV on election night, March 5th at 7pm, for our live results show, featuring interviews with voters at the polls, timely election results, and conversations with newly elected representatives.

Burlington City Arts Releases Findings of Economic and Social Impact Study of Greater Burlington Area’s Arts and Culture Industry 01/17/2024

Burlington City Arts unveils the local results of Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6), a comprehensive economic and social impact study of the Great Burlington Area's nonprofit arts and culture industry. The study, conducted by Americans for the Arts in partnership with Burlington City Arts, demonstrates locally as well as nationally that arts and culture are a critical economic driver of vibrant communities.

Results of the study include total spending by nonprofit arts and culture organizations as well as event-related spending by their audiences–and the impact of that economic activity on jobs and tax revenue generated to the Greater Burlington Area, Vermont, and the federal government.

The AEP studies series is the nation’s largest and most inclusive study documenting the economic contributions of the arts and culture industry, demonstrating locally as well as nationally, nonprofit arts and culture are a critical economic driver of vibrant communities. Join up to 8 other youth to engage in interesting media making projects! This paid media internship opportunity is designed for youth aged 16-20 who are eager to gain professional experience in the audio-visual field and develop a deeper understanding of their local community. The group will meet under the leadership of Town Meeting TV's Travis Washington from the end of January 2025 to the beginning of June 2025, on a schedule agreed upon by the whole cohort.
