Finding Hope From Within: Art Created by Incarcerated Women in Vermont 02/10/2024

An invitation to hear and engage in a discussion, not a debate, on the proposed new women's prison. The beautiful and powerful artwork created by incarcerated women at C.R.C.F. displayed on the walls of the Fletcher Room inform and bear witness to this heartfelt conversation. Participants on the panel: Tiffany Harrington of Free Her and formerly incarcerated at C.R.C.F; Heather Newcomb, manager of Justice Impacted Services with Vermont Works for Women; Toni Foote, Shelter Coordinator, CVOEO; and a representative with the Vermont Department of Corrections.

Positively Vermont: Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program 02/05/2024

Dennis McMahon speaks with Steve Agius, Wildlife Refuge Manager at the US Fish and Wildlife Service about the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program.

The annual state-wide Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program is underway in Vermont. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service invites students from pre-K to 12th grade to create designs featuring ducks, swans, or geese in their natural habitats. Designs are judged in four age categories, with awards for first, second, and third places and honorable mentions. Entries must be received by March 15th at 5396 VT Route 105, Brunswick VT 05905. The judging of the artwork occurs on March 28th, 2024 at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science in Quechee, Vermont.

Goals of increasing health on many scales from the personal, to community, to environmental levels, and patterns in nature inspire her work in a range of modes: sculpture, collaborations, and communication. She teaches at Champlain College, and works to connect volunteers, patients, families, and caregivers with the arts in the hospital - coordinating Art from the Heart, a program of Burlington City Arts and UVM Medical Center and Children’s Hospital.

Town Meeting TV is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Spring 2025 cohort of the Neighborhood Community Media Internship program. Join up to 8 other youth to engage in interesting media making projects! This paid media internship opportunity is designed for youth aged 16-20 who are eager to gain professional experience in the audio-visual field and develop a deeper understanding of their local community. The group will meet under the leadership of Town Meeting TV's Travis Washington from the end of January 2025 to the beginning of June 2025, on a schedule agreed upon by the whole cohort.
