Description
From the Organizers:
With the the Copper Ark and related objects now safely located under the same roof as the lovingly restored Lost Mural, we have an opportunity to fully immerse visitors in a unique “Little Jerusalem” experience.
Our plan involves building a twenty-foot long addition onto the Samuelson Saiger sanctuary with a high ceiling, that will exhibit the copper ark on a three-quarter height scale of the original sanctuary. Pews, bimah, and related artifacts will complete the experience.
Once completed, this sacred space will be available for contemplation and use as a sanctuary. It will also become an anchor, along with the Lost Mural, for a world class interactive interpretive exhibit on “Little Jerusalem,” open to the public and designed as a shared use space.
The Lost Mural was painted in 1910, walled up to preserve in 1986, moved in 2015, cleaned of dirt, grime, charcoal, and varnish in 2021, and restored in 2022.
