Description

From Preservation Burlington:

Co-hosts Ron Wanamaker and Liisa Reimann chat with Jason Stuffle from the Old East End group. Jason is a wealth of knowledge and helps run a cemetery tour at Green Mount Cemetery with Preservation Burlington in October. He is a founding member of the Old East End Neighbors and a lifetime member of VOCA (Vermont Old Cemetery Association). He is also on a member of the Burlington Walk/Bike Council which informally connects to the cemetery being a great place to walk.

Many Old East End residents and history are buried in Greenmount. The Fletcher Monument from Mary Fletcher Hospital which was formerly Catlin Hill before it was hospital hill. East Ave is so name because it was the road East of the Catlins. Also a great story of Catlin climbing a tree to check the view when deciding where to build. Also Grace Edgecombe Ainsworth who is buried in Greenmount owned land that became part of the cemetery, part of Centennial Field area and Schmanska Park. Also Guy Chambers buried in Greenmount owned Jason's house at one point.
