Description

From Jerome Lipani:

Noverco, the Canadian company that owns Green Mountain Power and Vermont Gas Systems, through several intermediary companies, is seeking permission from the Public Utilities Commission to buy out the public shareholders in Energir, the 100% owner of GMP and VGS. Enbridge, Inc. -whose pipelines have a terrible record of oil spills, gas explosions, fires and other health and safety faults- is one of the two owners of Noverco. If permitted, the buyout will increase Enbridge's ownership stake in GMP and VGS from about 28% to nearly 40%. And this could mean a renewed and aggressive push to build new fracked gas pipelines here in Vermont.
