Since 1998, Community Medical School at the Larner College of Medicine has created a venue for the greater Vermont community to learn about relevant and impactful health-related topics from leading experts and educators at the College, the University of Vermont, and the UVM Medical Center. The program shines a light on the excellence and expertise of Vermont's only academic medical center while providing attendees with a taste of what it's like to be a doctor-in-training.
The proposed rules would allow cable companies to assign market values to these benefits and then charge the amount back to local communities in most cases. Benefits include items like free cable subscriptions to schools, discounts for the elderly, and fiber connectivity to local government buildings like police departments, fire stations, and libraries.
