For the first time in 247 years, a Vermont Equal Protection Constitutional Amendment is up for debate on the House floor. Though we know that it will be decided in the courts, this constitutional amendment could lay the groundwork in creating a state legal approach to equal protection that assists Vermont in its ability to create survivable policies that correct disparate outcomes caused by systemic racism and other forms of oppression. It is possible that this constitutional amendment may assist Vermont in providing broader civil rights protections in the face of national threats. These protections could likely be expanded to some who are currently unprotected. This and more…

Hands off Rafah! Emergency Rally and March 05/07/2024

Israel stands poised to invade Rafah and complete the ethnic cleansing of Gaza. The apartheid regime has ordered the evacuation of over 100,000 people and is bombing whole sections of the city. It has refused a ceasefire and seems on the edge of committing the worst atrocity yet in its genocidal war.

Join us for an emergency rally at Burlington’s City Hall on Tuesday at 5:30pm. People who cannot make the rally and march in Burlington should call an action in their city or town.

In Burlington, we will have a few speakers and then march up to UVM’s encampment to support the students’ struggle. They have already won partial disclosure of UVM’s investments and the cancellation of the war criminal Linda Thomas-Greenfield from speaking at commencement.

They are still fighting for UVM to divest from Israel, implement an academic boycott of Israeli universities, and grant full amnesty to student protestors who have been unjustly targeted with disciplinary charges.

Join the rally in Burlington, bring signs and banners, and most importantly bring all your friends and co-workers. People who can’t make the march, join us at the encampment at 6:15. Free, free Palestine!

Vermont Council on World Affairs: Laos Delegates 05/06/2024

CCTV hosts the Vermont Council on World Affairs for one of their Department of State International Visitor Leadership Programs (IVLP), welcoming an international delegation from Laos interested in learning about the values and policies used in the United States to increase accountability and transparency in government practice.

The five visting guests include Mr. Heng Khanthavisay, Ms. Pheophan Lattanamala, Mr. Thepphathai Phanka, Mr. Vongphakone Saysithideth, Ms. Vixay Srithirath. and Mr. Phosy Temmerath.

University of Vermont (UVM) students host an encampment for divestment on the Andrew Harris Commons. The University announced that it will cancel Linda Thomas Greenfield’s commencement speech.

"Gaza, Punishing the Innocent" is a collection of lino-cuts etched by Sam Kerson and originally printed by Katah at her Atelier du Livre in Quebec. The Lino cut images are supported by texts from the UN report on the battle of Gaza that took place during the winter of 2008 and 2009. "Gaza Punishing the Innocent" is a Dragon Dance Theatre production.

Africa Day is on May 11th, 2024. Africa Day (formerly African Freedom Day and African Liberation Day) is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organization of African Unity on 25 May 1963. It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent as well as around the world. The organization was transformed into the African Union on 9 July 2002, in Durban, South Africa, but the holiday continues to be celebrated on 25 May.

Join up to 8 other youth to engage in interesting media making projects! This paid media internship opportunity is designed for youth aged 16-20 who are eager to gain professional experience in the audio-visual field and develop a deeper understanding of their local community.
