Host Tom Proctor discusses Mark Hughes' #EndslaveryVT initiative and why we are still talking about slavery in Vermont in 2019, and Brian Cina talks about the H.478 Bill he recently introduced to the Vermont legislature calling for a task force to study and consider a state apology and proposal for reparations for the institution of slavery.

Both guests weigh in on the effects of the drug war on minorities in Vermont, what will change with cannabis legalization and what, if anything, should be done with tax money brought in from the cannabis industry to remedy historical inequalities.

Both candidates were endorsed by Rights and Democracy prior to the election, and we’re looking forward to real progressive change now that they're joining Ali Dieng, Brian Pine, and Max Tracy on the City Council.

Betsy McGavisk also visits the show to discuss the result to question #4 on the recent Burlington ballot, asking voters to further amend Article 89 of the City Charter, creating a DID. McGavisk will shed some light on what that acronym means and why the people said “No.”

Kate Larose is running for State Representative in Franklin 3-1, and Jeremy Hansen, who joins via the phone, is running for State Representative in Washington 1. They join Rights and Democracy Lead Organizer Emma Schoenberg and Host Noah Detzer as we prepare to work together with ALL our RAD candidates and get them elected in November!

Town Meeting TV is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Spring 2025 cohort of the Neighborhood Community Media Internship program. Join up to 8 other youth to engage in interesting media making projects! This paid media internship opportunity is designed for youth aged 16-20 who are eager to gain professional experience in the audio-visual field and develop a deeper understanding of their local community. The group will meet under the leadership of Town Meeting TV's Travis Washington from the end of January 2025 to the beginning of June 2025, on a schedule agreed upon by the whole cohort.
