Candidate Maea Brandt wins the Ward 8 special election with 58% of the tally after run-off voting ballots were tabulated. After write-in candidates were eliminated in the first round, and Jake Schumann was eliminated in the 2nd round, the totals fell to the final two candidates, Brandt and Dina John. 

This election fills the East District seat after Councilor Ali House needed to step down due to a housing change that put her outside the district she was serving. The East District seat will be on the ballot again this March 7, 2023 for the regular Town Meeting day election.
