Channel 17/Town Meeting TV Welcomes New Staff Members

Channel 17/Town Meeting TV is pleased to welcome new staff members to our team. Mike Cohen joins us as the new Production Associate, managing playback systems and working with post-production, Jacqueline Marshall and Kim Villemarie join Channel 17/Town Meeting TV as field producers covering local community meetings and events.

Mike Cohen started at Channel 17 as a volunteer, running cameras in the studio.  He spent a short stint in filmmaking at NYU but finished his degree in Classical Civilizations at UVM. For three years he has worked as a field producer for Channel 17 starting with Essex meetings and then moving in to regular coverage of Burlington. "I'm really looking forward to working in the studio and being exposed to all the work that goes into running a station. Having been on the production end for such a long time, it's interesting to see the other side of it - post-production, scheduling, programming, marketing, etc. It's great being part of team that helps make information about our towns and cities accessible to everyone." Mike will bring energy and a willingness to learn and grow in this new position." As someone who has been out there the past three years filming meetings, I truly appreciate the important job we have here. I understand how important the issues are to the people of this area, and I know how many people rely on us for information that they may not be able to get elsewhere."

Jacqueline Marshall served 5 years in the Air Force before pursuing her passion at Western Carolina University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a Concentration in Television Broadcasting and a minor in Creative Media /Video Design. She completed an Advanced Production internship at RETN and then went on in 2012 to work as a Production Coordinator at ORCA Media. We are happy, with all of her interest and experience, to have Jacqueline join the crew at Channel 17/Town Meeting TV. "Being a Field Producer at Channel 17 will and does allow me to be part of the community by covering events/meetings that educate and inform the public, which is a rewarding role for me."

(NO PHOTO) Kim Villemarie graduated from Clarkson University with a Social Documentation major, focused on documentary filmmaking. "I wasn't ambitious to enter the world of large film studios and big broadcast TV stations, nor was I inclined to move out of Vermont, my beloved home-state. I didn't know how else I could use my nice-but-expensive education and not need to move to one of the film industry hot-spots." She found Mount Mansfield Community Television in her home town of Richmond, and "popped in unannounced one day and introduced myself."  She has  been working part-time as a field producer for MMCTV for almost a year now, learning how a small local non-profit station operates. "I really like the what these kinds of stations do for communities, and I really enjoy the work to boot, so when my last full-time job ended I looked for more local video work and now I've joined the CCTV community too."
