Economist Rick Wolff examines how and why capitalism's crisis following the sub-prime lending debacle is actually deepening - not nearing an end as reported by most media. Additionally, Wolff explains how the social impact of that crisis in the US, Greece, Spain, and beyond are building to a historic change in our world.

Richard D. Wolff is Professor of Economics Emeritus, University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he taught economics from 1973 to 2008. He is currently a Visiting Professor in the Graduate Program in International Affairs of the New School University, New York City. He also teaches classes regularly at the Brecht Forum in Manhattan.

The event is co-sponsored by the University of Vermont's Economics Department.

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to encourage citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward 6 meets the first Thursday of the month. Meeting place: Greek Orthodox Church 600 South Willard Street.
