The House Committee on Government Operations of the Vermont General Assembly is conducting a series of public hearings on the decennial legislative apportionment process. This hearing considers the Chittenden County municipalities of Burlington, Colchester, South Burlington, and Winooski.

Under the Dome: Health Care Reform Financing Listening Sessions 12/14/2011

The Agency of Administration hosts this listening session to help inform the
design of future health care reform financing plans. These session (1 of 4) includes presentations on the
challenges facing Vermont’s health care system, how health care is financed currently in Vermont, and an
overview of Vermont’s revenue system. These informational presentations along with personal experiences will enable input on the potential impact of various financing sources on Vermont businesses and on the state’s economy and economic climate.

Governor Peter Shumlin: Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) Funding 12/13/2011

Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin (D), New Hampshire Governor John Lynch (D), Connecticut Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman (D), and Massachusetts Lt. Governor Timothy Murray, discuss the importance of LIHEAP funding and why Congress must act promptly to fund LIHEAP at the highest level before adjournment. Dave McCurdy, president and CEO of the American Gas Association, presents survey results on numbers of customers in arrears on heating bills (a 4.5 percent increase nationally). Mark Wolfe, Executive Director of National Energy Assistance Directors' Association, presents results from another survey showing families with at least one member who has served in the military receiving LIHEAP funds increased 156 percent since 2008.

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward5 meet Department of Public Works Building, 645 Pine Street.

The Town of Colchester Select Board meets at 7:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Colchester Meeting House (formerly the white church) on Main Street in the village. However, sometimes special meetings, locations and times are arranged.
