Skywatch: Ground the F-35s, Private Jets, and Unnecessary Flights 06/05/2023

The movement to ground unnecessary flights is growing. This includes the climate-killing F-35s, private jets, and other unnecessary flights. On May 23rd, more than 30 activists gathered at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport to voice these demands. This action was in solidarity with an action on the same day in Geneva, Switzerland, where activists protested at EBACE, the largest private jet sales event in Europe. More than 100 activists were arrested demanding an immediate ban on private jets.

Dan is an educator and community organizer fighting for climate and social justice. Dan is a campaigner with Safe Landing BTV, which demands an immediate ban on private jets and a 50% reduction of emissions at Patricky Leahy International Airport by 2030. Dan also campaigns with Flight Free USA and Flight Free Vermont, where folks pledge to fly less, take a flight free year, or quit flying altogether because of the climate crisis. Burlington Memorial Day Remembrance 2023 05/29/2023

This Memorial Day we reflect on the lives and sacrifices of our military service members in Burlington, Vermont, and across the nation who have given their lives for our liberty. I hope that you will join me and members of VFW Post 782 this Memorial Day, May 29 at 11:00 am at Battery Park.

Vermont has a proud tradition of military service which has a positive impact on our City. In our military service members, veterans, and their families – we see a model of courage, dedication, and selflessness. In them, we see a value that all Burlingtonians hold dear – the value of neighborliness.

This beautiful annual Memorial Day observance is always moving, and a time for us to gather as a community to share our gratitude and offer remembrance for those Burlingtonians we have lost over generations of wars, foreign and domestic.

Skywatch is a new program launching with CCTV about grounding the F-35 here in Burlington, Vermont - and grounding the F-35 everywhere.

Skywatch is hosted by Jimmy Leas and Danaka Katovich. Jimmy has been working to stop the F-35 in Burlington since the plan to base it here was first announced in 2010. He publishes CancelF35.substack.com. Danaka is the national co-director of Code Pink, and she is working to ground the F-35 nationally and internationally.
