The Greater Burlington Multicultural Resource Center hosts Sharon Robinson, daughter of sports and civil rights legend Jackie Robinson as keynote for the annual MLK celebration, including a special tribute to Nelson Mandela.

Sharon Robinson is the educational consultant for Major League Baseball. She manages Breaking Barriers: In Sports, In Life
a baseball-themed national character education curriculum that helps empower students to face obstacles in their lives. The program includes a national essay contest for students in grades 4-9 and throughout MLB's RBI program. Each year, thousands of students write an essay about how they used the values demonstrated by Jackie Robinson to overcome their challenges. Essay winners are celebrated in their schools and in Major League ballparks. Since 1997, the program has reached over 22 million students and 2.9 million educators.

In cooperation with the City of Burlington, CEDO Office, and the Lake Champlain Basin Program, three interpretive panels are dedicated around the area where once a thriving community of families, predominantly of Italian descent, once lived. More information at: Vermont Italian Club

Ayda Erbal teaches Middle Eastern Politics and Democratic Theory, as adjunct professor of politics at New York University, Department of Politics. She is interested in democratic theory, the politics of "post-nationalist" historiographies in transitional settings, the political-economy of mass violence and state formation, and the politics of apology. An award winning filmmaker on the side, Erbal is in the process of writing her second narrative short-film "Meligone". Erbal is also a published short-story writer and one of the founding editors of Azad Alik (http://azadalik.wordpress.com), a multilingual politics blog primarily dealing with minority issues in Turkey. Erbal also occasionally contributes to newspapers and magazines in Turkey, France and the United States.

Burlington has preserved many structures and neighborhoods which makes it a community that is the envy for many across the globe. Some buildings preserved include the Maltex Building on Pine Street (they made Maltex Breakfast Cereal), The Wells Richardson Building next to Bennington Potters (They made patent medicines during the turn of the century before the FDA set standards for how much alcohol can be in medicine!), and the building the show is being filmed in, 294 North Winooski Ave, the former Fassetts Bakery Building.
