Our mission includes five branches- burial, conservation, arts, learning & community- to help people connect meaningfully with the forest that they choose to sustain with their bodies when they die. Michelle Hogle Acciavatti is a natural deathcare worker and the founder of Vermont Forest Cemetery the first natural burial ground in Vermont. She is a licensed funeral director, death doula, pregnancy loss guide, home funeral guide, end of life specialist and natural burial educator. In 2016, she created Green Mountain Funeral Alternatives to help people preparing for the end of life, designing funeral services, caring for their own dead, and exploring natural burial options. Michelle has practiced death work with people of all ages, including death during pregnancy. Her work has found her in settings as varied as the forest, Boston Children’s Hospital, and people’s own living rooms as well as the traditional funeral home.

Vermont Peace/Antiwar Coalition and Burlington WILPF will be commemorating the 79th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at 11 am at the BCA Center on Church St in Burlington on August 6th, the day the atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima in Japan in 1945. Several speakers will be bringing attention to the horrors of the past with the intention that they never happen again. Members of the coalition will lead a dramatic reading of House Resolution 77 “Embracing the goals and provisions of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons,” introduced by Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA) with 43-cosponsors. Many Vermonters recognize the tenuous times in which we live, and the all-too-real threat of nuclear war. We are inviting our congressional representatives to raise their voices with us at this critical time in history.

We are excited to invite you to a press conference hosted by Vermont Clean Cities and Communities (VTCCC), housed at UVM’s Transportation Research Center. The event will be held at Hula Lakeside on July 30th at 2:00 PM. This event will highlight the Vermont stop on the coast-to-coast EV road trip organized by our partners at the Clean Transportation Coalition of Western Connecticut. This road trip is designed to demonstrate the efficacy and feasibility of cross-country travel in electric vehicles (EVs) and highlight workplace charging and other charging technologies. The event will include speakers who will share their insights on the significance of this initiative for the future of sustainable transportation:
