Description

From VICII:

The National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls has launched their New England-wide FreeHer campaign to end incarceration for people in women’s prisons throughout the nation. The FreeHer VT campaign is advocating to shut down Chittenden County Regional Facility and stop the state’s proposal to build a 250 million dollar prison project. The prison industrial complex has perpetuated a punitive culture where we have been taught to address acts of harm with more harm. The FreeHer VT campaign hopes to spread awareness and strategize with Vermonters about how we can end incarceration, build up people instead of prisons, and re-imagine how we can make our communities thrive.

With guests:

  • Kahlia Livingston, FreeHer VT Campaign Organizer
  • Jayna Ahsaf, FreeHer VT Campaign Organizer
  • Virginia Douglas, Co-Founder & Basic Income Coordinator at The National Council
  • Sashi James, Director of Reimagining Communities at The National Council
