Description

Burlington’s substance abuse prevention coalition, the Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community, BPHC presents the 7th annual “Roots of Prevention” award celebration. This celebration continues to be an inspirational annual event that recognizes outstanding individuals and programs who support prevention and health and wellness in Burlington. With the help of generous sponsors it is open to anyone who wants to attend at no charge. Keynote Speaker is Tracy Dolan, Deputy Commissioner at the VT Department of Health.

Awardees are:

DG Weaver Award * Patty Wesley – School Counselor and Director of Guidance and Counseling, Burlington High School

Outstanding Individual Award * Melanie Needle – Senior Planner, Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission

Youth & Families Award * Nurses of the Burlington School District

Outstanding Program Award * Jack Stackhouse & Jeff Thompson – Teen Directors, Burlington Boys and Girls Club

Join up to 8 other youth to engage in interesting media making projects! This paid media internship opportunity is designed for youth aged 16-20 who are eager to gain professional experience in the audio-visual field and develop a deeper understanding of their local community. The group will meet under the leadership of Town Meeting TV's Travis Washington from the end of January 2025 to the beginning of June 2025, on a schedule agreed upon by the whole cohort.
