On the Waterfront: Volunteer Services at Age Well 11/20/2024

Host Mariah Riggs interviews Erica Marks, Director of Volunteer Services at Age Well. They discuss the work of Age Well, highlighting how volunteers support older Vermonters. Their aim is to raise awareness about the services available for older adults, families, and caregivers.

Age Well is the largest Area Agency on Aging in the state of Vermont. Erica has been training and supporting volunteers for 17 years. She led the growth and development of Age Well’s Volunteer program taking it from 100 volunteers to over 1,100 strong! Age Well has one of the largest volunteer programs in the state of Vermont. She and her team created the innovative “Volunteer Respite Squad Program” which won a 2021 USAging Recognition Award in the Caregiving Category.

CVOEO Engagement for Municipal Decision-Making Workshop 01/30/2024

Emily Heymann, Senior Planner of Williston, joins the Fair Housing Project of CVOEO (Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity) to share tools for effective community engagement in municipal decisions, and strategies for addressing citizen concerns. This workshop is offered as a part a workshop series hosted by the Striving for Equity Project of CVOEO's Housing Advocacy Programs for housing committee members and community housing advocates. CVOEO's Striving for Equity Project supports local housing committees and promotes avenues for citizen housing advocacy to increase the amount inclusive, affordable housing that meets local housing needs.

State of Affairs in the Community and Resources Through CEDO/BPD 11/03/2023

Host Meghan O'Rourke, CCTV, is joined by Sarah Russell, CEDO Special Assistant to End Homelessness, Scott Pavek, CEDO Substance Use Policy Analyst, Rachel Jolly, CEDO Assistant Director, CJC, as well as Lacey-Ann Smith, BPD Community Support Supervisor at BPD, to share information about the City's work.

Sarah shares information about the Chittenden County Homeless Alliance and Coordinated Entry as well as the data around homelessness. Lacey shared information about Crisis, Advocacy and Intervention Programs (CAIP) and what’s happened since 2020. Scott shares information about Overdose Prevention sites and drug checking. Rachel shares information about Pretrial Services and Tamarack programs, the data/anecdotes we’ve observed over the last few years, and the gaps in treatment.
