Having more housing located close to jobs, schools and other amenities is an important need in Burlington and across Vermont. The South End’s Enterprise District is home to a big collection of jobs—artists and makers, entrepreneurs, and companies large and small—and is a well-loved destination to explore local creations of all kinds. The Enterprise District, however, doesn’t allow housing of any kind.

We’re exploring how parking lots and underutilized sites near the Pine & Lakeside intersection could be re-envisioned to be vibrant places that enhance and preserve the South End spirit that we love, include homes, and overall help make the District more economically resilient and environmentally sustainable.

The Greater Burlington Women’s Forum, in conjunction with GunSense Vermont and Steps to End Domestic Violence, is hosting an evening documentary screening of "Five Awake" and a panel discussion featuring Donna Dees, the documentary filmmaker; Clai Lasher-Sommers, Executive Director of GunSense Vermont; and Kelly Dougherty, Executive Director of Steps to End Domestic Violence Vermont.
