On Sunday, June 18 at the Essex Experience Green, residents came together to celebrate Juneteenth by reflecting on the significance of this American holiday and enjoying music and entertainment from local artists Toussaint St. Negritude, DJ Cooper, and Harold Roudette.

VPIRG's 50th Anniversary Celebration 09/18/2022

The Vermont Public Interest Research Group (VPIRG) is celebrating 50 years of people-powered action in Vermont in an event hosted at the University of Vermont. It features speeches from Senator Bernie Sanders, Representative Peter Welch, and a keynote address from renowned climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe.

VPIRG's mission is to promote and protect the health of Vermont’s people, environment, and locally-based economy by informing and mobilizing individuals and communities across the state. Juneteenth: Juneteenth Celebration 06/15/2019

Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth. In 2008, Vermont became the 29th state in the nation to recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday. Juneteenth is the oldest of African American holidays and commemorates the delayed notification (on June 19, 1865) of the Emancipation Proclamation (January 1863). The Vermont Proclamation designates the third Saturday of June as State Juneteenth Day.
