BCA: Migration and Contemporary Cultures in Vermont 03/07/2024

Pablo Bose, a UVM researcher working with immigrant-serving organizations, moderates a lively conversation in conjunction with BCA’s exhibition Here Now: Art and Migration. Panelists include Negina Azimi and Abdullah Hafizi of the global arts collective ArtLords (originally based in Afghanistan) and exhibiting artist Paula Higa (Brazil/US). Migration and Contemporary Cultures in Vermont is Co-sponsored by UVM Global and Regional Studies.

Here Now: Art and Migration brings together a group of international and national artists whose work explores concepts of borders, movement, and migration across local urban centers and global geographies. Through their choice of materials and visual languages, these artists challenge conventional notions of borders as fixed. They reimagine borders as sites of historical investigations, social reckoning, and conduits of an emerging aesthetic. Here Now: Art and Migration features artists who, through their creative practice, define their place in the here and now.

Burlington City Arts Releases Findings of Economic and Social Impact Study of Greater Burlington Area’s Arts and Culture Industry 01/17/2024

Burlington City Arts unveils the local results of Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6), a comprehensive economic and social impact study of the Great Burlington Area's nonprofit arts and culture industry. The study, conducted by Americans for the Arts in partnership with Burlington City Arts, demonstrates locally as well as nationally that arts and culture are a critical economic driver of vibrant communities.

Results of the study include total spending by nonprofit arts and culture organizations as well as event-related spending by their audiences–and the impact of that economic activity on jobs and tax revenue generated to the Greater Burlington Area, Vermont, and the federal government.

The AEP studies series is the nation’s largest and most inclusive study documenting the economic contributions of the arts and culture industry, demonstrating locally as well as nationally, nonprofit arts and culture are a critical economic driver of vibrant communities. BCA and Love Burlington join forces for their second year to present this beloved European-style outdoor market in City Hall Park on Fridays-Sundays, November 18 - December 23.

The BTV Winter Market brings together a mix of experienced makers and emerging creative small business owners with a rotating lineup of 20 local artists, makers, retailers, and food vendors. Heated sheds for vendors complete with lighting, seasonal decor, cozy firepits, heaters, and music create a vibrant joyful space for our community to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels. Interested applicants should send their resume and cover letter (including why they are interested in this position and any relevant experience) to Jordan at jmitchell@cctv.org.
