Age Strong Vermont Action Plan Information 11/07/2023

Host Bobby Lussier, CCTV, is joined by Angela Smith-Dieng, Adult Services Division Director at the Vermont Department of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent Living Vermont; and Rhonda Williams, Chronic Disease Prevention Chief at the Vermont Department of Health. To help ensure Vermont heads into the second half of the 21st Century as a healthy place to live, work, play, and grow older, state officials are asking the public to comment on a new 10-year action plan called Age Strong Vermont.

Burlington Planning Commission - Public Hearing on Proposed Amendments to the Comprehensive Development Ordinance 12/10/2019

This is a public hearing in front of the Burlington Planning Commission and the City Council Ordinance Committee to hear comments on proposed amendments to the City of Burlington’s Comprehensive Development Ordinance (CDO), including an amendment that would allow more Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU's).

The purpose of this zoning amendment is to encourage the creation of ADU’s throughout the city to support homeowners as they age in place, provide flexible options to help owners afford and better utilize available space within their homes, and to provide additional affordable housing options within existing neighborhoods. This amendment modifies applicable ADU and other city-wide general standards including: enabling ADU’s as a permitted use in all zoning districts, creating an alternative maximum unit size and lot coverage waiver process, and eliminating the parking requirement and limitation on stacked parking.

In 1974, the State of Vermont designated Age Well as the Area Agency on Aging for Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle Counties in Northwestern Vermont. They carry out programs authorized by the Older Americans Act - federal legislation that calls for local organizations to take the lead in creating a coordinated system of services for older persons across the country.

The Ohavi Zedek Social Action Committee launches a year-long effort to explore and act on issues of aging not just for seniors, but for younger adults with aging loved ones, for parents raising children while also caring for aging parents, and for seniors themselves. Guest speaker Jim Leddy launches this initiative. An outstanding leader in the community, having recently completed a six-year term as Vermont State President of AARP, Jim was a State Senator from Chittenden County and selected by his peers to chair the Senate Health and Welfare Committee. Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels. Interested applicants should send their resume and cover letter (including why they are interested in this position and any relevant experience) to Jordan at jmitchell@cctv.org.
