Dissenting Burlington School Board Commissioners To Make Statement On Budget 02/05/2015

Burlington School Board Commissioners Garrison, Kirk, Kleman, Shumski, and Porter speak to the media regarding the FY16 Burlington School Budget. On January 13, 2015, the Burlington School Board voted 9-5 in favor of sending a $68.6 million budget to voters for the March 3 annual Town Meeting Day Election. The Fiscal Year 2016 Budget would represent a 1.75% increase over the current year’s budget. Commissioners Garrison, Kirk, Kleman, Shumski, and Porter were the minority opposition to this Board action. At this press conference, these Commissioners discuss their common decision to support passage of the Burlington School Budget at the ballot box, along with their unique reasons for doing so.

Burlington residents will go to the polls on March 3 to vote on passage of the Burlington School Budget, with early voting beginning February 12.

Burlington Progressive Party Caucus 12/07/2014

Burlington Progressive Party members vote at their Burlington caucus to nominate and endorse Progressive candidates for the 2015 city races.
Steve Goodkind was endorsed as the candidate for mayor while four Progressives received the endorsement for Burlington City Council races. They were: Jane Knodell (Central district), Selene Colburn (East District), Max Tracy (Ward 2), and Sara Giannoni (Ward 3). Two Independents also received Progressive endorsements: Sharon Bushor (Ward 1), and Ben Vidal (Ward 8).
