Burlington, Vermont - February 24, 2011 - Mardi Gras 2011, Join the party LIVE on TV or online at 7dvt.com. Join Seven Days’ Eva Sollberger and WRCC Board Member, Clarence Davis as they emcee the party and parade live from City Hall Park. Local community media centers, VCAMRETN and CCTV collaborate to bring this exciting community event to LOCALTV (and at 7dvt.com) in support of the Women’s Rape Crisis Center.  

Beginning at 2:45pm on March 5, 2011 tune to any of the Burlington area local community media cable channels, 15, 16 or 17, for interviews, crowd shots and live coverage of all the floats. Magic Hat Brewery (http://www.magichat.net/mardigras/home) has been hosting
this large fundraising shindig for 16 years and we are bringing it to your TV (or computer!) Even if you can only join in virtually, you can still participate by visiting: http://www.stoprapevermont.org/events/mardi_gras.html

Channels 15, 16 and 17 are all on the Comcast and Burlington Telecom cable channel line-ups,  providing community members the means to produce and distribute community content as well as air programming relevant to community needs.  Keep a special eye out at Mardi Gras this year for the first  community access float: "The Power of Local Media in Your Hands."

In addition, local community media centers will air programming on issues associated with the parade’s beneficiary - the Women’s Rape Crisis Center.
