Robert Huber Debate Tournament - Lowering the Drinking Age 11/04/2011

The Lawrence Debate Union is hosting the Robert Huber Debate Tournament, kicking off with a debate on lowering the drinking age. Robert Huber coached debate at UVM for over 40 years and this tournament remembers him. The Lawrence Debate Union at the University of Vermont was founded in 1899. It is currently one of the leading debating programs in the world, with competitive success at natinal and international levels.

Dr. Betty Keller, MD, of St. Johnsbury, VT interviews UVM Ecological Economics professor Dr. Joshua Farley, PhD, and his father, Dr. Eugene Farley, MD, Professor Emeritus in Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin, about Vermont's new health care bill, Act 48. The nation is watching Vermont as our state attempts to improve access, improve outcomes, and reduce cost through a universal, unified health care system. Dr. Eugene Farley provides historical context and professional context, as a physician who started practicing before we had Medicare and before Family Practice was founded, when access was already challenging but costs were not so high. Dr. Joshua Farley speaks about rationing, waiting times, and lack of choice of provider in America now.

CCTV Center for Media & Democracy is pleased to announce receipt of a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources grant alongside 32 peer archival institutions across the country.
