Moran Blue Ribbon Committee 06/29/2010

The City Council Moran Blue Ribbon Committee's primary charge is to evaluate the proposed financial structure for the Moran project. This is the final scheduled meeting of this Committee, made-up of 3 Council members (Nancy Kaplan, Paul Decelles, Emma Mulvaney-Stanak) and 4 citizen members (Joseph Boutin (Chair), John Darcy, Dave Keelty, and Karen Marshall). Essex Junction Trustees 06/29/2010

The Essex Junction Trustees is the governing, legislative body for the Municipality of the Village of Essex Junction. The five member board is elected at large within the Village. The board includes the position of Village President. Unlike the appointed chairs of select boards or city councils, the position of president is elected by Australian ballot by Village voters. The three year terms of the Trustees are staggered to provide continuity. The Trustees usually meet twice per month on Tuesday evenings in the meeting room at the Village municipal office building at Five Corners The public is invited to attend all meetings, and may address the board or ask questions during a special “public to be heard” section at the beginning of each meeting.

Burlington Mayor's Press Conference: DPW's New Natural Gas-Powered Recycling Truck 06/28/2010

Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss unveils the City’s new compressed natural gas (CNG) recycling truck. Mayor Kiss will be joined by DPW staff and Ed Cleary, president of J&B International of Colchester, the truck supplier. At a cost of $226,000 the purchase price of a CNG truck is higher than a standard diesel. But, the use of CNG has tangible environmental benefits especially for a truck that is always in use and on the road. Benefits include substantially lower greenhouse gas emissions, less air pollution, quieter operation and a truck powered by CNG with fuel costs less than diesel. Burlington’s CNG recycling truck is the first in Vermont. Acquisition of the truck is part of DPW and the City’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint guided by the Burlington Climate Action Plan.

The board is responsible for setting the general policy direction, passing ordinances, setting the tax rate, reviewing the budget, supervising the Town Manager and a host of other related tasks. The Town of Colchester Select Board meets at 7:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Colchester Meeting House (formerly the white church) on Main Street in the village. However, sometimes special meetings, locations and times are arranged.
