Burlington Wards 4 & 7 NPA Meeting 03/27/2013

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 4 & 7 meet the third Tuesday of the month. Meeting place: Robert E. Miller Community Center 130 Gosse Court.

Burlington's Urban Renewal (1964-1968) - At What Price? 03/27/2013

John Varricchione gives a talk, presented by the Vermont Italian Club, on the effects of Burlington's urban renewal. In 2013 you can walk the streets of Burlington's inner city business district near Lake Champlain. It is filled with bright, efficient, tax revenue-producing entities. What was this district like in the 1960s???
John shares the some of the lives of many residences and businesses that were owned by hard-working, middle-class Italians, French, Irish and Lebanese families. Predominantly Italian, the Vermont Italian Club presently refers to this area as "Little Italy."
John shares what those houses and businesses looked like in the 1960s. Some begged for rehabilitation and destruction, but a majority of them were fine, well-kept establishments that offered proud living accommodations and business enterprises for those who lived in this section of downtown Burlington.

Williston Development Review Board 03/26/2013

Development Review Board (DRB) - The Williston DRB consists of a seven member Board appointed by the Selectboard for staggered three year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed development projects. This includes conditional use, variance, site plan, and subdivision approvals. Launch of GO! Chittenden County Transportation Resources 03/08/2013

The Chittenden County Reginal Planning Organization (CCRPC) launch a major new transportation initiative called "Go! Chittenden County" and initiative about new tools and options available to Chittenden County individuals and businesses that want to reduce the economic and environmental impact of getting to work, school, shopping, and more. The project is a collaboration of the CCRPC, Campus Area Transportation Management Association (CATMA), CarShare Vermont, Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA), Local Motion, the Vermont Agency of Transportation/ Go Vermont, Vermont Department of Health, Vermont Energy Investment Corp. (VEIC) and others.
