Farewell to Faye Lawes, Executive Secretary to the Mayor 08/31/2009

The Executive Secretary to the Mayor, Faye Lawes, will be retiring from City employment after 22 years of work in the Mayor’s Office and a career that has spanned the administrations of four different Burlington mayors, beginning in 1987 with Bernie Sanders. Ms. Lawes has served the City in various capacities since 1973, working first for the Parks Department, but from 1987 to the present has been the Executive Secretary in the Mayor’s Office.

Other speakers include: Representative Kesha Ram reading a letter from Senator Bernie Sanders; Dan Balon introducing the Boys & Girls Club Buffalo Soldier writing contest winner Brian Nguyen; State Senator Hinda Miller who, along with with the State Senate Chamber, passed a resolution honoring the Vermont Buffalo Soldiers.
