Williston Development Review Board 10/12/2010

Development Review Board (DRB) - The Williston DRB consists of a seven member Board appointed by the Selectboard for staggered three year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed development projects. This includes conditional use, variance, site plan, and subdivision approvals. The Board also reviews Certificates of Appropriateness as recommended by the Historical Preservation Committee.

Senator Bernie Sanders: Essex Affordable Housing Groundbreaking 10/11/2010

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), joins Brenda Torpy, C.E.O. for Champlain Housing Trust; Nancy Owens, executive director of Housing Vermont; and other local officials at the groundbreaking of new 30-unit affordable housing development on Susie Wilson Road in Essex. The Cedars’ Edge project is funded with the help of a federal grant secured by Sanders.

Burlington Mayor's Press Conference: Champlain 400 Plaza Dedication 10/01/2010

Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss will join representatives of Quebec, other regional municipalities, Congressional representatives, and First Nation representatives for a dedication and ribbon cutting for the “Champlain 400 Plaza”. The dedication comes one year after the City and region’s celebration of the Quadricentennial, 400 years since the explorer Samuel De Champlain arrived in Vermont.

Mayor Kiss Visits Old North End Businesses 09/30/2010

Mayor Bob Kiss will head back to Burlington’s Old North End as part of the Mayor’s “Business Call” Program. Having visited a number of North Street establishments in July, this time Mayor Kiss will focus on the Old North End’s other commercial artery, North Winooski Avenue. The Business Calls are done in collaboration with the City’s Community & Economic Development Office. As with past visits, Mayor Kiss will be accompanied by Bruce Seifer, Assistant Director for Economic Development with CEDO, and Jon Adams-Kollitz, Economic Development Specialist. Burlington Mayor's Press Conference: Maritime Museum Withdraws from the Moran Redevelopment Project 09/28/2010

Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss held a press conference regarding the Moran Redevelopment Project. The press conference follows the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum’s announcement that it has decided to withdraw from the project. “While I’m disappointed that the Maritime Museum has decided to withdraw from the Moran Project, the City’s financial plan has been structured to allow for this possibility,” said Mayor Kiss. “The redevelopment of Moran continues to be an exciting opportunity for Burlington’s Waterfront and the City’s future.”
