Burlington Dismas House is the largest and longest running provider of post prison housing in Chittenden County. Providing transitional housing for men and women coming out of prison, Dismas House helps former prisoners return to independent lives, reducing the repetition of criminal behavior, helping to ensure greater public safety, and reduce tax payer costs of incarceration. Established in 1986, Burlington Dismas House has a proven track record: approximately 75% of the residents who meet the commitment to live at Dismas for at least three months make successful transitions to productive lives in the community. The Burlington Dismas House 26th Annual Dinner & Auction features Keynote Speaker Susan Cooke Kittredge, Vermont minister and VPR commentator. She will be joined by special Guest Speaker Governor Peter Shumlin. MC, Thomas J. Donovan, State's Atorney of Chittenden County will introduce a Dismas House resident to speak as well as the Governor. Judge Geoffery Crawford, presents the Dismas Jack Hickey Award to Bob Wolford of the Howard Center.
