How does a small French-speaking society protect its valuable language and culture, surrounded by a sea of English-speakers? Presenter: Weston Donehower, Ph.D., Retired Professor of History and former Director of the Montreal Campus, Champlain College. Part of  "La Francophonie in Vermont" series, sponsored by the Fletcher Free Library's Intercultural Programs and the Alliance Française of the Lake Champlain Region.

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 4 & 7 meet the third Tuesday of the month. Meeting place: Robert E. Miller Community Center 130 Gosse Court.

Burlington's Waterfront Bike Path is a 7.5 mile recreational route that runs from the southern end of Burlington at Oakledge Park to the northern end at the Winooski River, where it connects via the bike path bridge to the Colchester Bike Path. The Bike Path follows the Lake Champlain shoreline, offering wonderful views of the lake and the Adirondack Mountains to the west. The bike path links six major waterfront parks, along with the Burlington High School and the central Waterfront district. You can find the feasibility study here.
