During this wasatewater treatment plat tour, Megan Moir, Division Director, speaks in depth about the bond votes, and the tour is led by Matt Dow, Wastewater Facilities Manager.
From the City of Burlington:
Have you ever wondered what happens to the water that goes down your drain? Now is your chance to find out! We are temporarily opening Main Plant, our largest wastewater facility, to the public for tours this Fall and Winter. Come meet our amazing wastewater operations team and learn how they treat over 3 million gallons of sewage every day. We’ll also explore upcoming projects aimed at protecting Lake Champlain and discuss practical steps you can take to care for our community’s water resources.
The tour will include time outdoors and time in buildings where treatment equipment is operating. The outdoor component is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers while the treatment buildings require up to 5 stairs to access. Plan on being outside for about an hour and a half, so dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes if you wish to go inside the treatment buildings.
