Description
Janet Biehl shows her mini-comic "Sur Destroyed" and talks with host Margaret Harrington about why Biehl drew the illustrations and text for Global Action Day on April 28 to protest the Turkish destruction of Hasankeyf, Sur, and other locations where Kurdish populations have been nearly wiped out. Sur has been inhabited for 8 millennia by heterogeneous peoples living alongside one another.
Biehl illustrates the destruction of the city with passionate drawings. She also talks about her translation of the book titled Sara: My Whole Life Was a Struggle - The Memoirs of A Kurdish Revolutionary by Sakine Cansiz.
