Fred Magdoff on Climate Change, Capitalism, and Socialism Presentation

Wednesday, June 26th, 6pm, Fletcher Free Library

Our climate emergency has ignited global protest and organizing for a future that eliminates emissions of greenhouse gases. This raises urgent questions. What would a just and ecologically sustainable society look like? And if the current economic system can’t adequately respond to this need, what are the strategies to advance our struggle?

Fred Magdoff is Professor Emeritus of Plant and Soil Science at the University of Vermont. Among his recent books are Agriculture and Food in Crisis (edited with Brian Tokar), What Every Environmentalist Needs to Know About Capitalism (with John Bellamy Foster) and Creating an Ecological Society: toward a revolutionary transformation (with Chris Williams).
