Governor Peter Shumlin, in accordance with the Board of Trustees at the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum, has proclaimed June 23 to be the first annual Ethan Allen Day in Vermont. On this day in 1775, the Continental Congress honored Ethan Allen at Independence Hall in Philadelphia for his courageous actions at Fort Ticonderoga.
