Mayor Kiss, Patrick Brown, of the Burlington Multicultural Resource Center and members of Americorp announce events in Burlington to mark the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Organizers for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King celebration have just announced that "Famous Amos," Wally Amos of chocolate chip cookie fame, is the confirmed speaker for the first event of Burlington's annual MLK day celebration.

Scheduled for Sunday, January 15th at 3pm at the Universalist Church at the top of Church Street, "Famous Amos" will be accompanied by a gospel music performance by the widely acclaimed Bible-Way Pentacostal Church Choir from Montreal.  The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required to attend and can be obtained from Fletcher Free Library or City Market in downtown Burlington.  Sponsors include: United Way of Chittenden County, Burlington Police Department, Burlington School District, Church Street Marketplace, Citizens Bank, City of Burlington, Clear Water Builders, FairPoint Communications, Fletcher Free Library, KeyBank, People's United Bank, SerVermont, University of Vermont and the Unitarian Church.

On Monday the 16th, the public is invited to gather from 12 noon until 2pm at City Hall for a "Reflection" on the late Dr. King.  Community members will do brief reflections of the late Civil Rghts Leader and drumming will be provided by the Sambatuccada music group.  The event is free and no tickets are required.

    Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

    Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels.
