Description

ACLU takes a close look at surveillance in Vermont. Their recent report, Surveillance on the Northern Border, documented the surveillance tools and systems that have come into Vermont in the last dozen years. Most of these tools and systems have been purchased with federal Homeland Security grants. This has meant that the usual oversight and review that occurs through local or state budgeting hasn't happened. Information about what's been bought and how it's being used has been scant. While the systems may not have been purchased to build a surveillance society, they can be used that way.
