Town Meeting Day Election Forums: Essex Town Meeting 03/02/2020

The legal voters of the Town of Essex in the County of Chittenden are hereby notified and warned to meet at Essex High School in Essex Junction, Vermont on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 7:30 P.M. to transact the following business and to act on the following articles.

ARTICLE I. Shall the reports of the Officers be accepted?
ARTICLE II. Shall the Town adopt a budget forthe fiscal year July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 as
recommended by the Selectboard in the amount of $15,332,134?
ARTICLE III. Public to be Heard.

Essex Planning Commission 02/27/2020

Town of Essex Planning Commission meetings are all held at the Town Offices at 81 Main Street in Essex Junction, in the downstairs conference room on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. The public is always welcome, and the meetings start promptly at 6:30 PM. If special accommodations are needed please call (802) 878-1343.

The five members of the Essex Junction Planning Commission are appointed by the Village Trustees. The commission meets on the first and third Thursday of each month to review development applications, update the Land Development Code, and assist in the update of the Comprehensive Plan.

The Town of Essex Selectboard holds a public hearing to consider proposed amendments to the Town of Essex Charter to expand the Selectboard from 5 at-large members to 6 members – 3 of whom would be elected from inside-the-Village and 3 of whom would be elected from outside-the-Village.

Essex Junction Trustees & Essex Selectboard Joint Meeting 01/14/2020

Essex Junction Village hosts a special joint meeting of Essex Junction Village Trustees and Essex Town Selectboard at Lincoln Hall.

The Essex Junction Trustees is the governing, legislative body for the Municipality of the Village of Essex Junction. The five member board is elected at large within the Village. The board includes the position of Village President. The position of president and vice president are decided (appointed) through a vote of the board itself. This was a function of a charter update at the 2010 annual meeting. The three year terms of the Trustees are staggered to provide continuity. The Trustees usually meet twice per month on Tuesday evenings in the meeting room at the Village municipal office building at Five Corners. The public is invited to attend all meetings, and may address the board or ask questions during a special “public to be heard” section at the beginning of each meeting.
