The History of Burlington's Waterfront 11/12/2012 Main Street Landing, in 1984, commissioned a multi-media slide show on the history of Burlington's Waterfront. The history of the waterfront was an important aspect of Main Street Landing's visioning process and it guided them through the creation of 250,000 square feet of built environment on the waterfront. Circumferential Highway Alternatives Task Force Meeting 11/29/2012 Since the Governor's May 20, 2011 announcement that the Circumferential Highway - as originally conceived - would not be built, the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) staff has been coordinating with VTrans, the "CIRC Communities" (Colchester, Essex, Essex Junction, and Williston), and other stakeholders to examine alternatives. The Governor asked the MPO to coordinate a process to identify projects and planning activities to address mobility, congestion, transportation demand, safety, livability, and economic development in the region.
