Town Meeting TV Presents Virtual Primary Election Candidate Forums
DESPITE COVID-19, VOTERS CAN STILL WATCH DEMOCRACY IN ACTION!
Vermont’s Primary Election — on August 11th — will determine who will be on the ballot in the General Election on Tuesday, November 3rd.
Beginning Thursday, July 16th, Town Meeting TV (formerly known as Channel 17) will present candidate forums for many of the (down-ticket) contested seats that are on the ballot in Chittenden County. Although this year’s forums will be held remotely due to COVID-19, all candidates listed on the ballot, or running write-in campaigns, will be invited to participate in candidate forums or encouraged to upload their own video content at www.cctv.org/watch-tv/elections
“This election season is looking very different,” says Town Meeting TV Director Meghan O’Rourke. “But Town Meeting TV is as committed as ever to representing all voices on the ballot and we encourage candidates who are unable to participate in election forums to send us their own video content.”
Primary Election Forums will air live on Town Meeting TV’s YouTube channel and be rebroadcast on Comcast channel 1087 and Burlington Telecom channels 17 and 217. Voters are encouraged to submit questions for the candidates to feedback [at] cctv [dot] org (feedback [at] cctv [dot] org) prior to each forum. (They should include what town they live in and which candidate(s) their question is for.) To help ensure that Vermont voters are informed about candidates running for statewide executive office (such as Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, etc.), Town Meeting TV will also air and archive important debates, forums, and candidate events that are hosted by other groups and organizations.
