Dr. Helen Caldicott Live Interview and Talk

Channel 17/ Town Meeting TV will air a live interview with and talk by Dr. Helen Caldicott on April 8 at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  The Womens' International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) will host  Dr. Caldicott at the Channel 17 studios for a live on air interview at 1:30 p.m. In addition, WILPF has invited Dr. Caldicott to speak to an audience that evening at UVM's Davis Center. The evening talk, at 7:00 p.m., will be streamed live on the web at www.channel17.org.

With the Vermont Legislature focusing on the future of Entergy's Vermont based nuclear power plant Dr. Caldicott's talk is of interest and relevance to the public.

Dr. Helen Caldicott, anti-nuclear activist and co-founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility, has committed the last 35 years to educating the public and speaking internationally on the medical hazards of nuclear power and weapons.  She is devoted to finding a way for humanity to save the environment and itself without compromise.  "As a doctor, as well as a mother and a world citizen, I wish to practice the ultimate form of preventive medicine by ridding the earth of these technologies that propagate disease, suffering, and death." - Dr. Caldicott.  As President of the Washington, D.C. based Nuclear Policy Research Institute, her organization published Carbon Free and Nuclear Free: A Roadmap for U.S. Energy Policy.
