Channel 17 Welcomes Intern, Domenica D'Ottavio
Domenica D'Ottavio joins us at Channel 17 from her junior year at UVM. She will bring her communications and marketing class skills to bear as she tries ways to engage the community around Channel 17 programming. We are excited to have her on board, to share our media knowledge and learn best practices coming out of the academy.
Her first assignment was to comb through our website and find programs she wants people to know more about and that she thinks could have a greater reach.
"I am excited that I have already begun doing some hands on work during the second week of my internship. I am experimenting with Photoshop and Illustrator for creating a promotional video to air in between shows on Channel 17. Could do a graphic, video footage, may use the green screen. Could do an animation/whiteboard. Lots to think about."
She will focus first on the Burlington Mayor's Live call-in program. Why have the Mayor on Live TV if people don't know to call him, right? Domenica is already focusing on the goals she wants to achieve and connecting with the right partners to get the work done.
In addition, as she looks through our online and material assets, she is giving us valuable feedback as a new comer to the political scene in Burlington as well as community access. From noting a broken twitter feed on our home page, to knowledge about what students are interested in politically, Domenica has an enthusiasm for connecting audiences with meaningful information and experiences
