Colchester Selectboard 06/26/2012

The Town of Colchester Select Board meets at 7:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Colchester Meeting House (formerly the white church) on Main Street in the village. However, sometimes special meetings, locations and times are arranged. Check Select Board Agendas which are posted around town at various locations and always at the Library and the Post Office, as well as in the lobby of the Town Offices and on this website. David Coates - Vermont's $3 Billion Pension Problem 06/20/2012

As of June 30, 2011, the state of Vermont owed an astonishing $3.0 billion in unfunded pension and retiree health benefits for state employees and teachers. This figure was approximately six times the state’s outstanding general fund, transportation fund and special fund general obligation bond debt on the same date.
How Vermont got into this enormous problem, and how it can work its way out, is the subject of this Sheraton Economic Series talk by David Coates. The Sheraton Economic Series is sponsored by The Ethan Allen Institute, Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, Vermont Economy Newsletter, Vermont Business Magazine and Vermont Tiger. Ordinance Committee 06/19/2012

The City Council Ordinance Committee reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding proposed changes to the City Code of Ordinances. Proposed changes come to the Committee upon a referral from the full City Council and can be in the form of new ordinance proposals, proposed amendments to existing ordinances, or proposed repeal of existing ordinances. Upon completing its reviews, the Committee returns its recommendations to the full City Council for their final vote.
