Williston Development Review Board 08/09/2011

Development Review Board (DRB) - The Williston DRB consists of a seven member Board appointed by the Selectboard for staggered three year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed development projects. This includes conditional use, variance, site plan, and subdivision approvals. The Board also reviews Certificates of Appropriateness as recommended by the Historical Preservation Committee.

Burlington Ward 6 NPA Meeting 08/04/2011

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to encourage citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward 6 meets the first Thursday of the month. Meeting place: Greek Orthodox Church 600 South Willard Street.

Under the Dome: Local Legislative Districts and Reapportionment 08/03/2011

Every 10 years following the U.S. Census, legislative districts are reviewed to reflect the principle of 'one person', one vote'. Representatives of local Boards of Civil Authority (Robert Millar from Winooski, Donna Kinville of South Burlington, Linda Myers from Essex and Terry Macaig from Williston) respond to the changes proposed by the Vermont Legislative Apportinment Board and share the changes their municipalities are proposing to meet the principal.

Legal Services Law Line of Vermont: Disaster Assistance 08/02/2011

There is help available for victims of the severe storms and flooding that affected much of northern and central Vermont last April and May. But, there are application deadlines for federal disaster assistance coming up. People affected by the Lake Champlain flooding must apply by August 15. The deadline is September 6 for Washington and Caledonia counties. Attorney Christine Speidel, Staff Attorney at Vermont Legal Aid, Shaun Gilpin Program Director, CVOEO Mobile Home Project and Tom Garrett, Executive Director, Legal Services Law Linel answer frequently asked questions, and explain why it's important that everyone who was affected by the flooding apply for federal help. Besides grants and loans, disaster victims may qualify for tax breaks. Also covered are tips for avoiding home improvement fraud, and resources available to homeowners.
