Law enforcement professionals are more likely to encounter dangerous extremists than virtually any other segment of American society — and those confrontations are, tragically, sometimes fatal. In fact, a 2010 University of Maryland study found that 49 of more than 400 people killed by far-right extremists since 1990, or nearly 15%, have been law enforcement officers. With that in mind, the SPLC has undertaken a number of initiatives to equip officers with information and other resources that may help them carry out their duties with a minimum of danger to themselves.For more information, please visit Southern Poverty Law Center.

The feature film, Lost in Laconia, is a powerful documentary created by Gordon DuBois, about the closing of Laconia State School in New Hampshire in 1991. Vermont closed Brandon Training School soon after and was the first state to achieve complete community integration. The film will be followed by a panel comprised of clients and staff from HowardCenter who lived and worked at the Brandon Training School and film maker Gordon DuBois. Part of HowardCenter Diversity Committee and Howard Center Developmental Services evening program on the difference that inclusion in the community made for people with Developmental Disability.

 Long-time Vermont Business Center at the University of Vermont instructor Tim Lybarger talks with Jess Wilson of CCTV Productions about his upcoming seminar April 29th, 2011 seminar 'Workload Management.' Tim explains how workload managment will prepare employees to handle the challenges they face in effectively managing their workload on a day-to-day basis. This one-day session is design to help participants learn the processes, tools, and skills that will help them gain greater control over the multiple priorities they must juggle on a daily basis.
